Welcome, Reyadh!

Reyadh Nagi

On September 6th, NY JFON welcomed a new attorney, Reyadh Nagi.

Reyadh is a graduate of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he studied criminal law with a minor in political science. Although he initially pursued criminal law at Hofstra University Law School, Reyadh’s experience working at an asylum clinic run by Professor Lauris Wren motivated him to work with vulnerable populations seeking an opportunity to live a better life. “Many have already been here for a long, long time,” Reyadh says, “They’re part of the U.S., and now they are seeking to be recognized by the law.”

Reyadh also notes that his own immigration background led him to connect with clients. Reyadh was born in Yemen and came to the United States when he was eleven years old. Growing up in Brooklyn, he became aware of the social issues in his community, many in regards to immigration. He remembers delays, a lack of transparency in the system, and a lack of understanding of the procedures. His desire to help those in his community, and in the broader New York immigrant population, led him to NY JFON.

Reyadh is most excited to gain experience in many different aspects of immigration law and develop a full understanding of the system. One of his future goals is to start his own immigration law firm. He emphasized how much he has enjoyed his first week at NY JFON, and looks forward to working in our Long Island office with Senior Staff Attorney Samantha Blecher.
